I’ve been a copyeditor and proofreader since 2002, with six years at a major metropolitan newspaper, two years at an educational publisher, six years at two major book publishers, and fourteen years as a part-time or full-time freelancer. My diverse work experience allows me to work on a variety of genres and formats.

What I Work On
My clients are primarily publishers and independent authors, who hire me to get their full-length book manuscripts ready for publication. I specialize in copyediting and proofreading children’s and young adult fiction and nonfiction books, but I have also worked on nonfiction and fiction titles for adults. My favorite genres are mystery, fantasy and science fiction, and contemporary fiction, but I enjoy variety and will tackle any subject.

I have also copyedited shorter projects, including marketing and curriculum materials.

How I Work
I copyedit electronically in Word with Track Changes on, so authors can clearly see my edits. I also occasionally copyedit on paper using standard marks.

Most of my proofreading work is done in Adobe Acrobat Reader using annotation and markup tools and custom stamps, though I am open to marking up physical page proofs, too.

I can work with your style guide or one you prefer (The Chicago Manual of Style or AP style), and create a personalized style sheet for your book.
